Love Your Bod Carebox: Meet the Makers

We believe that Time is an invisible ingredient, and so the majority of what makes up an IDYLHOUR box is carefully handmade.

We were given the great honor of designing a self-care box for the team at The Underbelly, a yoga app and wellness community co-founded by Jessamyn Stanley and Mary Carr. What we came up with is our Love Your Bod carebox, a collection of greatest hits and new favorites with a theme that serves as a foundational aspect of our entire self-care philosophy: Your body is your home. We think the great gift of yoga is the quality time you get with your own body, the way it provokes a conversation between the two of you and the way even a casual yoga practice delivers us the inherent invitation to settle into the loving embrace of our body as a vehicle for this life.

All too often, in a world where diet culture and the fitness industrial complex become billion-dollar monsters, we are told that our bodies are imperfect and must be fixed. We’re taught our bodies (ourselves) are a problem. The truth is that we are already perfect and our bodies can become both a refuge and a guide when life becomes overwhelming. Our September box is a little nudge back to that place and we hope it gives you exactly what you need in this moment in time.

We’ve been strategizing when to include Meow Meow Tweet into an IdylHour box for months and months. Now, in this space of giving our bodies TLC on the daily, the perfect time has finally arrived. Founded by art school pals Jeff Kurosaki and Tara Pelletier in 2009, their whimsical packaging is only half of the fun. We included the Grapefruit Mint Body Soap and Grapefruit Deodorant Cream to give you the opportunity to love your wonderful body even in mundane, everyday routines — to transform a mindless chore into a mindful and nurturing ritual. The luscious Repair Balm has many uses and can be used as a potion on any parts of your bod that needs an extra layer of protection.

We had to include a facial mask in this month’s box because (at least for some of us) the restorative act of being still with a nurturing mask is the epitome of luxe self-care. Queenie Wang-Sitterson, founded AEnons in 2014, in part by her mother’s commitment to self-care. As Queenie also began inventorying the seemingly endless list of cheap fillers and additives in her skincare, she turned toward herbalism and folk medicine to find a better way. She is a creator at heart, and so a skincare line was born.

We love that the minimalistic approach extends to their packaging, which makes AEnons a sustainable choice.Their line of skin care products are simple and chic, giving you exactly what you need without any fillers.

Absolutely worth repeating that it’s nearly impossible to choose a favorite tea from Briana Thornton’s Aesthete Tea. A family endeavor, each of their tea blends are created by Briana’s herbalist mother, Maggie.

Their Holy Basil tea combines three different types of tulsi (or Holy Basil), which is one of the most revered healing plants available. In fact, tulsi itself means ‘the incomparable one.’ As a treatment, its uses are many: an anti-inflammatory, beneficial for eyesight, reduces anxiety, improves brain function, and perhaps most importantly in our over stimulated culture, it aids with sleep.
